Dealing with Security issues is far easier and safer than people think

Today, when new security threats evolve regularly, it becomes necessary that Biometric Time and Attendance Machine shall be developed in order to meet the changing requirements, and therefore, the salient features included in the fingerprint reader system includes easy updates, monitoring of defaults, and also scalability to integrate new users.
Although the algorithms which are used to implement fingerprint recognition are efficient enough to improvise with minor changes in the original fingerprint of the authorized user, but certain physical factors like heavy injuries that may cause damage to the finger is an issue, and such instance have created a concern for the developers of such system. An idea to overcome this situation has been considered by our team, and the proposed software not only provides alternates to such conditions but it also provides a dual security mechanism which is based on dual checks during access. Precisely, multiple scans of a particular fingerprint are stored in the system, and in case, a mismatch occurs with one of the images, the system automatically rematches the finger print with the other images.
In view of the security policy which depends on the nature of business organization, this system provides the user to set various security priorities as per the specific requirements. Logs of successful access and entries of defaults are preserved in the system for monitoring the entire access control system. An important features which is a part of this biometric T&A system is to restrict the number of login attempts, that is to say, after a certain number of unsuccessful login attempts, the systems prohibits the user to make another login attempt. This number can be set by the authorized user, and that apart, login accounts can be created for guest members which lapse after single usage.
A fledgling attempt to deliver security oriented software which satisfies the demands of a vast section of users, this system has been tested in various environments and platforms. Minimal hardware requirement for deploying the system is a low cost fingerprint reader machine which is compatible with the system, and for the sake of making it easy for our clients we do provide certain recommendations for such machines.

How to maintain a biometric system?

There are many users of biometric system. Some use it in such a way that its shelf life exceeds a decade, the others damage it within just a few years. So what does help you prolong the longevity of a biometric system? Let's us educate you. There are some precautions that you have to take.
Don't clean the dirt buildup with an alcohol-based or a gasoline-based cleaner. The prohibition is even more important for a better performance of sensor. The abrasive cleaning agents make the layer of silicon on the sensor cloudy and lead to a poor performance. You should rather buy a mild ammonia-based cleaning agent.
Maintain the biometric system every three months at least. Longer interval can lead to short circuits in the hardware due to moisture condensed. The moisture is one more threat to the product life of the biometric system. The moisture trapped in the sealed packaging of the system causes product failure quickly. What can be done to maintain the integrity of the machine, then? Before making a purchase, try to know if the assembly was done in a controlled environment. Ask the buyer to what extent the packaging is permeable to moisture.

You should use a proper desiccant solution to avoid moisture. Make sure there is not any defect through which the moisture can pervade the desiccant.
If the biometric system is installed outdoors, the metal housing should be affixed.
The case is more appropriate for the lonely premises. Out of hours anybody may intrude in the building and tamper with the machine.
As shown in the picture below, the area sheet of plexiglass covering the sensor can be cut to allow the enrolled fingers to punch in.

Dust deposited on the hardware can be wiped out with a soft cotton piece of cloth.  The detergent can be used to clean the sides of the biometric system. If the dirt particles are big and obvious enough, lift up the front part of the hardware and remove the dirt particles.

Things to consider when buying a biometric machine

There are many things which one should consider before buying a biometric system. When I browsed the topic, I didn't find a single post cautioning the prospects. Surprising to us!  We decided to educate the potential clients of biometric machines.
1.The first thing any prospect buyer should take into account is the scale to accommodate future business growth. We all know that all businesses grow overtime. If your company outgrows your current system, you will have to migrate to a new system. This unnecessary costs you more money and disruption.
2. User capacity varies from one model to the other. We, at Secureye, provide 500 to 9000 user capacity range. By user capacity, we mean the number of users can be enrolled in the biometric machine. Of course, keep in mind the future strength of your organization in a decade, because lifespan of a biometric system stretches seven to ten years at least.
3. User capacity is of three types: Fingerprint based, card based and password based.  Generally, all these three types are equally distributed. For example a 9000 user capacity is divided equally amongst finger based, card based and password based technologies. You can choose the configuration best fits your business need.
Consider if the biometric machine is fingerprint based, or card based. Generally, card-based biometric machine doesn’t cost you a few hundred more rupees. So don't hesitate to buy a card-based machine if there are senior citizens employed in your company. They lose their fingerprints with old age. Save them from any kind of embarrassment.
4. Sensors are not a problem with the biometric machine. There are LED lights in various colors. You can switch between red, green and blue LED. LED lights and sensors don't prove to be the selling point. As long as the sensors in your biometric system read your fingerprints, it is fine. Keep it on by default mode. If you want it should allow you to adjust brightness of the LED.

A lot of people like it when their biometric machine goes well with the physical environment. So no problem if you buy a biometric machine that compliments your office setting and doesn't look out of place.

How to install the biometric lock onto your door?

Biometric locks are more and more in use today.  In spite of its flaws, nothing beats the convenience it promises to its users. The users don't have to keep the keys and stay locked out of the home if the keys are lost. Now you don't have to remember many passwords to enter your home. What's more, you don't have to remember one more thing: Your own fingerprint. Yes, there are burglars who are criminals of opportunity, but the intelligent locks are invented to rob them of such many opportunities.
Some say that the intruders often break into the house from the back side or the windows not from the front door. They need to install the locks on the window as well. And of course, they can be installed in the window as well.
How to install the biometric locks on the door?
All the equipments that you need to install the lock very much come with the package. Things like screws and template with proper measurement are in the box already. You need a drill as well.
It is not advisable to install the lock yourself. You will need a carpenter to do the job for you.

There are two bodies of the lock: exterior body lock and the interior body lock. Pass the power wires through the holes drilled already according to the template in the picture.

Thickness is important while installing the lock. If the thickness is not sufficient, you can add a shim plate, wooden plate to align the parts.
Now remove the battery and install the interior lock body onto the other side of the door. Connect the wires to the interior lock body and install the batteries.

Issues in biometric Machines and how to fix them

People started using biometric products a lot more than they ever did.  There is still a huge market for the products like that in Asia.  The more people use biometric products, the more issues there will be. Secureye is one of very few companies, which provides with the tutorial audio and video education for the users about its products.
As we know that most users don't face problems with the hardware. It is the software that trouble the end users.  A lot of brands offer in home tutoring services and many give user manuals of the software & hardware in the regular packaging boxes.

As soon as you insert the DVD and user manuals bundled in the box, the software gets installed automatically on your personal computer. Then there are videos which you can play and learn how to set up the biometric machine.
There are the other issues which people face. E.g. when you punch in, the sensors don't produce templates of your thumb impression.
There are a few things you check in this case.
a. Check if you are punching in properly. Not every machine has the feature of auto adaptive technology which allows rotational matching of fingerprints.
b. Check if your fingerprint is enrolled at all.
The company, Secureye, gives you the audio-video tutorial to refer to for a proper enrolment process.

Suppose that STF staff are camping in a forest for a few months and want to use time and attendance machine there to motivate the military personnel to come on time. In this case, as we know there is no network, no internet connection in that territory.  A biometric machine can still be installed and can function well. How? Let’s see.

It can run on battery or on electric current.  Once in a month you can plug a pen drive and upload the general logs.

The same pen drive, you can plug in the computer with network and the software installed on the monitor will produce the desired reports.

Compare Features: Secureye Biometric products vs other competing brands

Have you been thinking of buying biometric machines for your offices?  What to buy when there are hundreds of options available in the market can puzzle anybody.  So, how do we buy the other things?  It is simple.  Know what is that is setting that product apart from the rest. As soon as you know it very well, the problem of choice overload is solved. Is not it easy?
We also sell the biometric machines. But when the question was posed to us, we decided to do a post helping our customers avoid the problem of over choice. So how do we help our customers/you to overcome this problem? Simple: by telling what do we offer that our competitors don’t.
Let's take a look at a few models of biometric machines we are offering.
Model No:

As shown in the info graphic above, half the products are standalone and the other half are IP based biometric machines.
Now let's highlight their unique selling points that differentiate us from the other competing brands.

600DPI Optical Sensors

There is not even a single company in the Indian market, which is providing 600 DPI optical sensors in their biometric devices today. What it takes to provide the same features with the same price range is the manufacturing backed by a strong research and development team. Secureye always believes that to delight customers, you have to innovate constantly. A small visit to all the stores in any electronic market would tell you that our competitors are hundreds of DPIs behind us.

Auto Adapt Technology

The models which we displayed in the pics above are all auto-adapt technology based machines. Now there are a lot of brands in the market which claim to be providing the technology. But after your independent research, you will find actually none except Secureye is providing this technology in the biometric machines.
Now one might ask what is about. This technology.
This technology helps reduce recognition time of the biometric machine. Generally, there is a sensor in the machine which helps to recognize the fingerprint of the user. Once the sensor communicates the data captured during punch in, it matches it with the one already registered in the database.
In case someone does not punch from an appropriate angle, it fails to read the fingerprint. But it is not so in case of Secureye biometric machines.
Secureye biometric machines with the help of sensors register fingerprints from every angle possible and save them virtually for future punch-ins.
This reduces the identification time to less than a second.

Secure IP Based Biometric machines come with an inbuilt access control feature

Our Biometric machines come with an access control system. There is a diagram attached to the piece to explain how it works. The customers can combine a door lock with the attendance management system.  Other brands provide separate machines for separate purposes. Lack of combination costs you more.

Battery Back Up
In case of power cut, all the models have a long battery backup of 4 hours. Not all brands out there managed to offer such a power bank when the primary source of power is unavailable.
